SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a homicide have made an arrest.

Just after 12:30a.m. Sunday, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting in the 3000 block of East 79th St. South for a shooting call, according to Sheriff's spokesperson Robin Busch.

First responders found 20-year-old Armando Garcia from Wichita with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Deputies assisted with lifesaving efforts until Sedgwick County EMS arrived and transported him to an area hospital.  He was pronounced dead at 01:17a.m., according to Busch.

Sheriff’s Detectives investigated the incident and booked 21-year-old Isac Monjaras from Haysville, on a requested charge of Involuntary Manslaughter.

Detectives do not believe this incident to be gang-related. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor. This case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
