MATCH DAY is coming up on October 12th. Donations are matched by the Greater Geary Community Foundation's Match Day. Geary County Historical Society Executive Director Heather Hagedorn said she wanted to emphasize how much your donation, especially on October 12th, can help at the Geary County Historical Society. 2020 and 2021 have been hard across the country, the world, and the Historical Society is no different.
Due to budget cuts by the county, the Historical Museum lost 30% of our annual funding. Donations can help them try to make up for this lost funding. By donating to Geary County Historical Society on Match Day, every dollar given over $25 will be matched at 50%. That means your $25 becomes $37.50; $50 becomes $75; $200 becomes $300 and on.
Gifts up to $1000 will be given the 50% match and there is $140,000 of matching funds available for the community.
Donations can be made in person, online or via mail.
Numerous other organizations will be participating in Match Day ranging from the C.L. Hoover Opera House to United Way and the Geary County Fish & Game Association, and more.
