
SEDGWICK COUNTY —Three suspect arrested in connection with a Wichita double murder made their first court appearance in the case on Monday.

According to the Sedgwick County District Attorney Jacquellynn Arthur, 28; Joshua Halstead, 34, and Michael Wilking, 32, all of Wichita, were charged with 1st degree murder, aggravated burglary, and aggravated robbery.
Halstead was also charged with with criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and made a 1st appearance for two counts of violating the offender registration act, according to the district attorney's office.

Just after 8p.m. Dec. 29, officers responded to a shooting in the 3900 Block of W. Fairhaven in Wichita. They found 43-year-old Bradley Michael Reece and 22-year-old Kayla Schmidt both of Wichita. Reece died at the scene. EMS transported Schmidt to a local hospital. She died on New Year's Eve, according to Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick.
Wilking and Arthur are being held on $250,000 bonds while Halstead’s bond is $500,000. Their next court appearances are scheduled for January 28, according to the district attorney.
