Police: Suspect allegedly threatened student at Kan. middle school

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities and officials with Kansas City Unified School District 500 are investigating an alleged threat involving a student.

On Thursday, police were called to Gloria Willis Middle School, 1735 N. 64 Terrace, Kansas City, Kansas after reports of an adult who had threatened a student on school propery during school dismissal, according to a media release from police. The school was placed on “Hold Status."

When police arrived,  they attempted to contact the alleged suspect who ran into the woods next to the school. Officers and K-9 support searched for the suspect.

 Most students were eventually able to leave school. However, a few students remained on school property until the hold was lifted.  Police have not reported an arrest or suspect details.
