Police ID body found by kayaker in Kansas River

KANSAS CITY—Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department have identified the body recovered from the Kansas River as 20 year-old Johnathan Devol, of Independence.

Devol was last seen Sunday October 16, near the river below the 12th Street bridge, according to a media release from police. An initial autopsy indicates the death was accidental.

The incident remains under investigation.

KANSAS CITY—Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department are investigating a body discovered in the Kansas River by a kayaker, according to a media release from police.

Just after noon Saturday, police were dispatched to the east bank of the Kansas River south of 670 and north of Kansas Avenue.

The body appears to be a white, adult male.  Initial observation indicates the body had not been in the water for an extended period of time.
