15-year-old in custody for alleged Kan. school social media threat

GREENWOOD COUNTY—Law enforcement and USD 386 authorities are investigating an alleged school threat.

On Sunday, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a threat against a school, posted on social media which included a photograph of a firearm, according to a media release from the sheriff's office. The investigation, in conjunction with the FBI, revealed a 15-year-old suspect in Madison.

A search warrant was executed at the home of the juvenile by the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and a pellet gun, believed to be the same gun posted on social media, was recovered.

Deputies arrested the juvenile on requested charges of criminal threat. They also arrested two adult residents of the home on unrelated requested drug distribution charges. There is no ongoing threat to the school or the public, according to the sheriff's office.
