Kansas woman dies, 2 hospitalized after head-on crash

BARRY COUNTY, Mo. — One person died in an accident just after 7 p.m. Tuesday in Barry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Shirley L. Bell, 59, Anthony, Kansas, was southbound on Highway 39 in Jenkins, Missouri.

The car crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2006 Lincoln Zephyr driven by Jereme D. Fenley, 35, Shell Knob, Missouri, head-on.

Bell was pronounced dead at the scene. An air ambulance transported Fenley and a 14-year-old boy in the Taurus to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Bell was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
