SEDGWICK COUNTY—An Oklahoma truck driver accused of intentionally backing over and killing a Georgia man in the parking lot of a Wichita truck stop will learn his fate Thursday.

On Wednesday, a jury found 46-year-old Travis Briscoe of Oklahoma guilty of vehicular homicide in the death of death of 57-year-old Abdelmuttalib Mohammed, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

In February, Briscoe waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over for trial.  He is scheduled to appear for sentencing in the courtroom of Judge Sean Hatfield.

Briscoe was originally charged with 2nd degree murder for the death of Abdelmuttalib Mohammed.

On August 13, 2025,  police responded to the Love's Travel Stop in the 1500 block of East 21st Street North for an injury crash, according to Officer Kris Gupilan. They found 57-year-old Abdelmuttalib Mohammed of Georgia, under a truck. Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at 5:32 p.m.

Investigators with the Wichita Police Department determined Mohammed had been in a verbal altercation with Briscoe. The two men did not know each other, according to Gupilan. During the altercation, Briscoe began backing into a parking stall with his semitractor-trailer striking  Mohammed.

Briscoe has been in the Sedgwick County jail on a $150,000 bond since the incident,  according to online jail records.
