
TOPEKA —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal shooting in Topeka have made an arrest.
Just after 8 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of SW Clay Street in Topeka on a report of a shooting, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.
Upon arrival, officers located two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim had non-life threatening injuries and one victim identified as 66-year-old Harry T. Jenkins of Topeka was pronounced deceased at the scene.
With assistance from the United States Marshals Service, authorities located Boisy Dean Barefield II, 34, Topeka, in the 3400 Block of Briarwood Lane, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.
On Thursday, they arrested and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges that include First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Shooting at Occupied Dwelling.
