CHEYENNE COUNTY, CO —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an accident that left eight dead including a Kansas man just after 4:30p.m. Friday in Cheyenne County, Colorado.
The Colorado State Patrol reported a Ford F-150 driven by Jian Zhong, 45, from Aurora, CO., was westbound towing a boat on Highway 40 near Hugo in eastern Colorado.
The pickup traveled into the eastbound lane while attempting to pass a semi and collided with an eastbound Chevy Silverado driven by Sammy Henry, 59, Liberal, Kansas.
As a result of the crash, the F150 caught fire. Henry, Joshua Henry, 36; Maki Henry, 8 and Messiah Henry (unknown age) of Sterling, Colorado died in the Silverado. Zhong, Cathy Zhong, 34; Myoli Zhong, 9, of Aurora, and Ren Juntan, 53, Centennial, CO., died in the Ford.
The Colorado State Patrol released no additional details Monday.
