KHP: Helicopter lost power, makes landing in Kansas backyard

COFFEY COUNTY —A Kansas man and his passenger avoided injury during an aircraft incident just before 10:30a.m. Friday in Coffey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Dehavilland helicopter piloted by Tereso T Orozco, 64, Topeka, was flying near the area of the city of Leroy.

The private aircraft lost power and made a precautionary landing in the backyard at 1810 C Street in Leroy, Kan., according to  Trooper Rick Wingate

Orozco and a passenger Kenneth David Norman, 48, Sunnyvale, Texas, were not injured. The KHP released no additional details Friday afternoon and there is no word on whether the NTSB or FAA  will investigate.
