KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating human remains found on April 16 have positively identified as that of Justin Siwek, according to a statement from Kansas City, Kansas police.

Siwek, who was 32 years-old at the time, was last seen on Father’s Day 2021 at the Days Inn at 7721 Elizabeth in Kansas City, Kan.

A resident hiking through a wooded area of Wyandotte County discovered his remains. Forensic testing using DNA previously obtained from family allowed police to positively identify him.

“While this is certainly a pivotal point in this case, there is still much work to be done to determine what led to his death, according to KCK Police Detective Bryan Minich.

This incident remains under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit.
