Outfielder Nick Heath has been working his way up the ladder through the Kansas City Royals system. Now the former Junction City Blue Jay has been added to the Royals 40-man roster.

Kansas City added four minor league players just before the MLB deadline that would have left those players exposed to other organizations in next month's Rule 5 Draft. In addition to Nick Heath, the club added left-handed pitcher Foster Griffin, right-handed pitcher Carlos Hernandez and shortstop Jeison Guzman to the roster.

Heath is a 2012 graduate of Junction City High School where he played baseball for the Blue Jays.
