Applications are being accepted for the 2020 Citizens Police Academy that begins on Jan. 23rd at the Junction City Police Academy, but only a limited number of slots remain.

Applications are available at the Junction City Police Department or on the City's website http://www.junction cityks.gov/ under Your Government>Public Safety>Police Department>Citizen's Police Academy.

The Academy is an experience of behind-the-scenes look at the Junction City Police Department. The 12-week course meets on Thursday night each week for approximately three hours and on one Saturday. Topics to be covered will range from overviews of the Junction City Police Department's organization and structure to information on officer recruiting and training and introductions to the different divisions of the JCPS and their responsibilities. There will also be hands-on workshops in areas such as Tactics, Fingerprinting and Firearms Safety.

Citizens Police Academy class members are also given an opportunity to observe police patrol work through the Ride-A-Long experience with an area patrol officer. Class members will have an opportunity to use the Use of Force Simulator which is used to train police officers and shoot live ammunition at the police shooting range using various weapons.
