The latest: 4 children killed in Thanksgiving Day crash

REPUBLIC COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal Thanksgiving Day crash and have identified those involved.


The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1994 Toyota passenger vehicle driven by Jennifer Dawn Lovelace, 38, Tularosa, New Mexico, was northbound on 30th Road eight miles north of Courtland.


The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the west side of the roadway. It rolled and came to rest on its top submerged in a pond.


Lovelace and passengers Paul E. Bannister, 38, Alamogordo, New Mexico, were transported to the hospital in Belleville. He was not seriously injured.


Ronald T.S. Hyde, 12; Travis E. Hyde, 9; Aidan M.L. Lovelace, 4, and Axton H Beck, 9 months, all of Tularosa, New Mexico were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home.


Bannister and the Hyde brothers were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
