Great Bend Sweeps Junction City in varsity basketball

The Great Bend Panthers won the girls varsity game 49-38 and the boys varsity contest 48-39 in basketball at the Shenk Gym Tuesday night.

In the girls contest Junction City rallied to tie the game 19-all at halftime, but Great Bend got two three points from Jenna Mauler and one from Alyssa Herter to move in front 32-29 after three quarters. Sydney Unruh scored 10 points for the Lady Panthers in the fourth quarter. Mellana Davis led Junction City with 11 points.

In the boys game the Blue Jays trailed the entire contest. They were down 15 in the third but rallied to within one point in that quarter. Great Bend got two 3-pointers from Peyton Duvall and one more from Alex Schremmer enroute to the win. Junction City playing against a 2-3 zone shot just 2 for 28 from 3-point range.
