
SHAWNEE COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on numerous felony charges after a traffic stop.
Just before 1:30a.m. Wednesday, a deputy observed a reckless driver operating a Toyota Corolla near SW 12th and Washburn Avenue, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer with the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the driver failed to stop. The driver eventually stopped near SW 5th Street and Lane Street, exited the vehicle, and ran from the scene.
The driver was located a short time later a block away near SW 6th and Lane, according to Stallbaumer.
Deputies located Methamphetamine in the vehicle and made two arrests. The driver identified as Devante Jordan Reed-McElroy, 24, of Topeka was booked on requested charges that include Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude LEO, Reckless Driving, Driving on Expired License and Other Traffic and Registration Violations.

The passenger identified as Tia L. Blackford, 24, of Topeka is being held for Felony Warrants for Narcotics. The Kansas Highway Patrol and Topeka Police Department assisted with this incident.
