Driver arrested for fatal crash that killed Kan. woman

DOUGLAS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities have finished the investigation into the wreck that killed 24-year-old Lawrence resident Elizabeth Ann Allen on August 2o,according to police spokesman Patrick Compton.

Allen suffered fatal injuries after the moped she was riding was hit by a pick-up truck in the 2700 block of Haskell Avenue.

On Friday, Lawrence Police arrested the driver of the pick-up truck, 43-year-old Eric Lee Spaeth of Lawrence on charges of DUI and involuntary manslaughter.

The forensic laboratory report from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation revealed that Spaeth had a blood alcohol level of .205 at the time of the accident.
