
BARTON COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas teen on drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop.
Just after 11:30p.m. Tuesday, an officer from the Great Bend Police Department stopped a green 1997 Ford F-150 pickup in the 1900 block of 10th Street for a traffic violation, according to a media release from police.
During the course of the traffic stop Great Bend Police Department K9 Menta was deployed to do an exterior sniff of the vehicle. Menta indicated a positive odor of narcotics. Upon completion of the sniff officers searched the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a handgun were located.
A passenger inside the vehicle identified as Garrett Sigmund, 18, was arrested for narcotics and weapons violations. Sigmund was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked in lieu of bond.
