
SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting near the Washburn University campus and have a suspect in custody.
Just before 7:30p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1600 Block of SW College in Topeka after report of a shooting, according to Lt. Steve Roth. They found a female victim with non-life threatening injuries. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The suspect identified as 29-year-old Cory Brown of Topeka had fled the scene in a white GMC Yukon with Kansas license plate 470 MRN.
Just before midnight, police located Brown and the in the 1200 Block of NW Fillmore, according to Roth. They arrested Brown on requested charges of Aggravated Battery.
Police released no additional details Sunday.
