 </figure>Brad Scholz is scheduled to be given the oath of office for the 1st District seat on the Geary County Commission at 9 a.m. on Friday at the County Office Building. He will fill the vacancy that occurred with the death of R. Ben Bennett in December.Geary County Clerk Rebecca Nordyke confirmed the governor approved the appointment and then sent the appropriate paperwork to the Secretary of State's office. That office in turn mailed Scholz the necessary information including the oath, and the oath of office ceremony was then scheduled for Friday.1st District Republican Party precinct committee members had recommended to fill the vacancy when they met in a nominating convention on Jan. 2.&nbsp;Nordyke explained that the position will also be on the ballot later this year in the primary and general elections for a two-year unexpired term, and on the ballot in 2022 for a regular four-year term. The appointment of Scholz is for this year and he can run to fill the position in the future along with other candidates who might choose to seek election.
