SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a case of alleged child abuse that sent two children to a hospital.

At noon Friday, police responded to an assist EMS call regarding a child not breathing at a home in the 2800 Block of South Emporia in Wichita, according to Captain Brent Allred.

Upon arrival offices located a 2-month-old boy unresponsive. EMS transported the child to a local hospital where it was discovered he had serious internal injuries, according to Allred.

Investigators learned the boy had previous injuries in addition to the injuries discovered Friday. His 2-month-old twin sister had a healing broken femur.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested 22-year-old Marlin D. Williams, Jr.,  on requested charges of aggravated battery, according to Allred.  The boy and his sister remain hospitalized.

Police also located a 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl at the home. They were not injured and placed into police protective custody.

Williams is the father of the children. Police believe the injuries were physical. The 2-year-old also had a healing broken clavicle, according to Allred.

The mother of the children was not at home at the time of the arrest.
