Kan. felon with 2 DUI convictions arrested after car crash

SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon with two previous DUI convictions on a new DUI charge after an accident Wednesday in Saline County.

Just after 5p.m., a 2011 Chevy Malibu driven by Jeremy Eilrich, 30, of Salina, was eastbound on West Bond Street in Salina when he allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign at Highland Avenue and struck a 2018 Buick Encore driven by Marcia Demuth, 55, of Salina, according Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. The drivers were not injured. 

When the officer made contact with Eilrich, he possibly appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, according to Forrester. A test was administered and Eilrich was arrested on requested charges that include Felony DUI, Failure to stop at a stop sign and  no proof of insurance.

In addition to DUI, Eilrich has previous convictions for burglary, aggravated battery and drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
