Lady Jays fall to Topeka High

The Junction City Lady Jays fell to Topeka High 76-17 in the first round of the 2020 Lady Firebirds Winter Classic basketball tournament at Lawrence Free State High School on Thursday.

The Lady Jays will next play in the consolation semifinal round at 3:30 p.m. Friday against the loser of the first round matchup between Blue Valley Southwest vs. Olathe West.

The tournament also continues on Saturday.

Winter soccer program is under way

Milford Parks and Recreation has begun their winter Futsal program, which is indoor soccer played on a basketball court.  They have fielded one K through second grade team, two third grade through fifth grade teams and three sixth through eighth grade team.

K-2 and 3-5 teams will play their games on Fort Riley and had their first set of games this past Saturday, winning all three matches.

The 6-8 grade teams will not have any competition outside of their own players since no other teams were formed, but will be playing on Saturdays at the HD Karns gymnasium.
