Kansas felon jailed on new charge after traffic stop

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just before 10p.m. Monday, an officer from the Great Bend Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at 23rd and McKinley Street for a traffic violation, according to a media release.

The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, identified as Aqeisa Koett, age 38, had an outstanding warrant for possession of methamphetamine from a previous narcotics investigation.

During Koett's arrest,  police located a plastic baggie containing numerous prescription pills in the vehicle. Koett was also arrested on a requested charged for possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Koett was transported to the Barton County Jail where she was booked in lieu of $20,000 bond. She had two previous drug convictions in 2018, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
