Lady Jays win for the first time in two years

The Junction City Lady Jays used a stout defense that didn't give up a field goal in the first half and cruised past the Topeka West Lady Chargers 57-27 in girl high school basketball in the capitol city.

The win snapped a 44-game losing streak for Junction City. Coach Tim Testa said there was lot of relief. "A lot of pride, a lot of things."Testa added he was proud of the girls and the rest of the coaching staff.

After the win the team congratulated Topeka West ( 1-14 ) and then headed to the locker room where they enjoyed a celebration. "A little bit, yes sir." It was the first head coaching win for Testa who added it will be a fond memory for a long time.

Junction City ( 1-14 ) plays at Highland Park tonight.

In boys action Thursday evening Topeka West ( 7-8 )rallied from a five point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Junction City ( 6-9 ) 47-42. The Blue Jay boys also play at Highland Park tonight.
