Daryn Soldan named Director of Economic Development in Manhattan

Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce officials have announced the appointment of Daryn Soldan as the new Director of Economic Development. He will begin his duties on March 9th.

The Manhattan native is taking over for Trent Armbrust who moved to a position with the Kansas Department of Commerce in 2019.

Soldan's primary responsibilities will include implementing economic prosperity strategies outlined in Region Reimagined and the Greater Manhattan project. He will oversee business attraction, business retention and expansion and entrepreneural activities for the Chamber's economic development program. The Chamber serves as the lead organization for economic development in Manhattan through a contract with the City of Manhattan and private investments through Advantage Manhattan.

Soldan most recently served as the executive director of the Wamego Chamber of Commerce.

Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce President / CEO has also announced the recent transition of George Kandt into the business retention and expansion manager for the Chamber. Kandt will coordinate all programming in the area of business growth, including an expanded on-site visitation program. Kandt is a native of Manhattan, who recently moved back to the community after a long career with Sprint in Overland Park.
