SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man after a 2-county chase.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a patrol officer observed a gray 2015 Honda Civic driving without tail lights in the 200 block of North Broadway Boulevard in Salina, according to Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop and sped southbound and led police on a chase through the south part of Salina before getting on southbound Interstate 135.

Saline County Sheriff's deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers took over the chase. The vehicle eventually stopped because troopers put out spike strips in McPherson County.

The driver, Mason Barnes, 19, Salina, was arrested on requested charges of felony flee and elude, no drivers license and multiple other traffic violations.
