Deputies find 176 pounds of marijuana during I-70 traffic stop

SHAWNEE COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug charges after a Tuesday traffic stop.

Just after 9a.m. Tuesday, deputies made a traffic stop on a 2020 Econoline van on Interstate 70 near Wanamaker Road in Topeka, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer. The van was a rental from Ohio.

Through the investigation, deputies found and seized 176 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana has an approximate value of $225,000, according to Stallbaumer.

Deputies also arrested Keith L. Hackworth, 26, of Columbus, OH, and transported him to the Shawnee County Dept. of Corrections where he was booked on requested charges of Possession of Marijuana w/Intent to sell.
