USD 475 and the Junction City Community  lost a coaching legend this week……Robert (Bob) Schmoekel (77).

Coach Schmoekel was as so many people have simply said, ” A Great Coach….but Better Man”.  Coach Schmoekel was associated with Junction City, coaching and teaching since 1966.  He has and will continue to impact so many people. His hard work ethic and care for others will live on forever.  Coach was the kindest, humblest, most dedicated and selfless person many of us have ever known.

Bob directed countless cross country and track teams to team titles and individual accomplishments.  As you know Coach loved recording and keeping track of all things cross country and track and field.  We have attached the history of JCHS Cross Country and Track and Field as coach put together himself, and devoted so many countless hours to update.

Coach Schmoekel was a proud Blue Jay and his support will be tremendously missed.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Suzie and his children Gretchen and Matt along with the entire family.
