SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a chase and crash.

Just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers observed a suspect later identified as 40-year-old Marshall Lane driving a silver Ford Focus with an illegal tag in the area of 25th Street and Grove Avenue in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Lane refused to stop, accelerated, and fled from officers.  A traffic pursuit ensued but was discontinued shortly after due to high speeds.

Lane continued to drive erratically and collided with a Gray Mitsubishi Mirage at North Indiana Avenue and East 1st Street.

The 49-year-old driver of the Mirage was not injured.  Officers arrived and arrested Lane without incident.  Lane and a 32-year-old male passenger in the Focus were also uninjured.

Lane is being held on requested charges of felony evade and elude, DUI, and a Kansas Department of Corrections Absconder warrant. He has been previously arrested and convicted on theft charges, according to Davidson.
