SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man accused of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl made his first appearance in court on Wednesday, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Victor Lara-Aguilar, 28, remains jailed on a $75,000 bond and is charged with kidnapping; inflict bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance and theft, according to online jail records.
Just before 4p.m. Saturday police responded to an attempted abduction call at a home in the 2500 block of South Roosevelt in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a 28-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter.
The investigation revealed the girl was walking alone in the area of 31st and Clifton when a suspect identified as Lara-Aguilera approached her on foot and said she was coming with him.
Lara-Aguilera then grabbed her arm and started to pull her with him, according to Davidson. The girl screamed loudly, pulled away from Lara-Aguilera and ran to her grandmother's house. The girl notified her mother of what occurred, and the police were called.
Officers obtained a description of Lara-Aguilera from the girl, and he was located in the 2900 block of South Hillside in Wichita and arrested without further incident.
Lara-Aguilera's next court date is May 28, according to the district attorney's office.
