Geary County Girls Softball Association President Jeff Childs confirmed Friday that their summer games are being canceled. "The Board of Directors of the Dickinson County Girls Softball League, which is who we play with, has decided to cancel the season based on the latest Governor's extension. They just decided it was in the best interest to cancel the season."
The State of Kansas moves to Phase 1.5 of COVID-19 recovery on Monday, but that prohibits softball teams from even practicing before June 1.
Childs did indicate that the Geary County Girls Softball Association would try to schedule some camps and clinics this summer. He noted that 80 girls had registered last weekend to play softball this year and another registration day was scheduled this Saturday. That will now be canceled.
