Update: 2 hospitalized after 3-vehicle Kansas crash

RENO COUNTY — Two people suffered injuries in a three-vehicle accident on US-50 Tuesday morning in Reno County.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s department, an eastbound SUV attempted to pass another vehicle when it was hit by a westbound semi. After striking the tractor trailer, the SUV hit the other vehicle.

A woman in the SUV was airlifted to a Wichita hospital in serious condition while the driver of the other vehicle was taken by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured. No names have been released at this time.

US-50 was closed for more than seven hours while the wreckage was cleared away and the accident could be investigated.

The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. near the intersection of US-50 and Kent Road, or about three miles east of Hutchinson.

RENO COUNTY —A Tuesday morning accident closed all lanes of U.S. 50 at Kent Road on the east side of Hutchinson, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The highway is closed from Yoder to Haven Road.

Traffic is being rerouted at Airport Road and Buhler Road.
