Onward Blue Jays is being undertaken to raise funds to purchase personalized banners for Junction City High School seniors.

Patti Schoenrock is one of the organizers for the project in which they want to put up banners in the community at multiple locations, "for the community to see. Then they will be given individually as a token of honor to the students."

Sally Edwards and Margie Pinaire have also helped initiate this idea. They have established a budget of about $30 per student for the project to cover the cost of the banners, and to hang and distribute them.

Schoenrock added that many parents have supplied the necessary permission slips so the banners can be hung in the community. Excess funds that are raised will support a school summer activity for the seniors.

To make a donation you can go to an Onward Blue Jays Go Fund Me account that has been established. You can also make a donation at any Central National Bank branch, mailed to P.O. Box 831 in Junction City or you can email [email protected]. Arrangements can also be made to pick up a donation.

School officials are aware of this project, but Onward Blue Jays is not associated with USD 475. It is an independent effort which organizers hope can be supported by the community.
