Former U.S. Army Captain and Green Beret, Norman Childs, 79, Junction City passed away on Friday at Select Specialty Hospital in the Kansas City Area. He had been battling illness.
Childs served three tours of duty in Vietnam and earned a Silver Star.
After a 20-year military career he served as the Convention & Visitor's Bureau Director for approximately eight years in Junction City, and two years in Pueblo, Colorado. He was the Director of the Cloud County Community College campus in Geary County for about five years, and also served as an account executive for KJCK Radio. He was a strong supporter of musical and theater productions in the area.
