JC Small Business Scavenger Hunt is being unveiled

Posted Jun 02, 2020 10:00 AM

During this COVID-19 recovery period there will be a JC Small Business Scavenger Hunt to help community businesses by increasing foot traffic, and hopefully, sales.

The scavenger hunt was the idea of some community members including Mike Spohn. He said they wanted to support the small businesses in the community. "But we didn't want to feel like we were asking them to do anything. A lot of times we ask them to put stuff out there for us to match, or discounts, extended hours. We just wanted to find a way to drive additional foot traffic to them without asking them to really do anything."

Spohn said they thought this idea might be a fun way to get people out and perhaps develop a new customer base for some of the small businesses.

The Junction City Area Chamber is supporting the scavenger hunt, which includes a $600 cash grand prize for the winning shopper.

Here is how the program works:

  1. Businesses register and receive a Scavenger Hunt flyer with a QR Code that has been assigned a point value (the point values are randomly selected).
  1. Shoppers visit participating businesses, scan the QR Code, and receive points.
  1. Shoppers accumulate points by visiting participating businesses. All participating businesses will be identified on a Scavenger Hunt Google Map that is provided upon their first QR Code scan or registration.
  1. Shoppers are allowed to scan each QR code once every 24 hours.
  1. Contest runs June 10th - June 23rd and the shopper that has accumulated the most points WINS the Grand Prize of $600!
