TOPEKA — Law enforcement authorities are investigating the cause of a fire late Tuesday in Topeka.

Just after 11:30p.m., crews responded to a structure fire at 3740 S. Topeka Boulevard, according to Fire Marshal Todd Harrison

As they arrived,  they found smoke and flames coming from the single story pay-day loan business.  A search of the structure revealed no occupants.

A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was intentionally set, according to Harrison. The estimated dollar loss is $15,000.00.
It was the second fire at the business in recent months. A fire in late February at the Loansmart business caused some $100,000 in damage.

Fire crews did not find working smoke detectors in the building.
