Police: Kansas man shot woman during robbery

SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting that left one woman with non-life threatening injuries.

Just after 6a.m. Monday, police arrived at a local hospital where an adult woman had arrived by private vehicle with a gunshot wound, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.

Officers spoke with the victim who stated that a man who was known to her robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money and at least one item, before shooting her in the hand.

The incident occurred in the 400 block of SW Taylor Street in Topeka.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested James David Cobulius Jr., 42 of Topeka, and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges: Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
