Police: 24-year-old Kan. woman kills boyfriend in domestic disturbance

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a f shooting and have identified the victim as 32-year-old Rahim Omar of Wichita.

Just after 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a disturbance with shots fired at a home in the 2800 block of South Ida in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson. Before arriving, 911 dispatchers notified officers of a man with a gunshot wound arriving at a business at Hydraulic and Wassall.

At the business, officers located Omar, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his body. He was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment and died, according to Davidson.

The investigation revealed Omar went to the home of his 24-year-old girlfriend, and a disturbance ensued. The disturbance escalated, and Omar charged at his 24-year-old girlfriend while threatening her.

She retrieved a handgun and fired a shot, striking him. Omar was taken to the nearby business by a friend who arrived at the home.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Police have not reported an arrest.
