KBI IDs body found in river as missing Kansas woman

SUMNER COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI, and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office have identified the woman whose body was recovered from the Ninnescah River.

Pending DNA confirmation, authorities have identified the victim as 27-year-old Shalan Niccole Gannon, of Wichita, according to a media release from the KBI.

Gannon was reported missing to the Wichita Police Department on April 11.

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 7, Sumner County emergency personnel recovered Gannon’s body in the Ninnescah River near 130th Avenue North and North West Road, after a fisherman called 911 to report the discovery.

The Wichita Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Butler County Sheriff’s Office are also assisting the KBI and Sumner County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
