REPUBLIC COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 8a.m. Monday in Republic County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Peterbilt semi driven by David J. Fronning, 33, Breckenridge, MN., was southbound on U.S. 81 just north of Birch Road.
The semi entered and traveled through the west ditch, struck an embankment, went airborne and struck some trees before coming to rest on its side in a field.
Fronning was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Capitol City Mortuary. He was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
