Police find stolen vehicles at Kan. auto repair shop

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with stolen vehicles.

Just after 4p.m. Thursday, police were following up on report of a stolen 2020 Ford Raptor, according to Captain Kevin Kochenderfer.

Officers learned of the location of the vehicle which led them to Wichita Collision and Dent Center in the 400 Block of South Washington Street.

At the business contacted Jonathan Halstead, 37, Derby, and executed a search warrant. They found the stolen Ford Raptor along with a stolen 2002 Acura. Police also seized a stolen handgun, stolen license plates, narcotics edibles and cash.

They also arrested Halstead without incident on requested charges of possession of stolen property worth more than $25,000 and making false information, according to Kochenderfer.

The Kansas Highway Patrol also participated in this investigation.
