SHERIDAN COUNTY —Over the weekend, the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office received a report of a burglary in a camper at Sheridan State Lake. Now they are warning the suspect they have been exposed to the coronavirus.

In a message posted on Facebook Monday morning, the department said at approximately 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3, the camper was broken into and several items were stolen while parked at the lake.

"We are asking for the public’s assistance. If you have any information regarding this incident, we ask that you contact the Sheridan County Sheriff's Department," the announcement said.

But during the burglary, the department warned the suspect was exposed to the coronavirus.

"In case the suspect/'s read this message, the owner wanted to properly inform them," the announcement said. "The reason the camper was out at lake was due to the individual being on quarantine, due to COVID-19."

The department suggests the suspect monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.

"If you start to notice that the bottle of Weller’s you stole doesn’t taste like it normally does, you might want to go to your nearest medical provider and get tested ... you may have the 'rona!"
