KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating after the Kansas City Drug Enforcement Unit intercepted fentanyl brick which could have killed thousands, according to a social media report from KCPD.

Squad members estimate this brick would have been broken down into approximately 10,000 tablets resembling oxycodone.

This fentanyl arrived in Kansas City from California and was headed to Alabama. We believe the markings indicate a shipping destination. Suspects are facing charges.

The DEU intercepts fentanyl or fentanyl-laced pills weekly. It is a dangerous and growing issue nationwide. On Tuesday night, two KCPD officers went to the hospital for a possible fentanyl exposure during an arrest. The officers are fine.
