FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities in many areas of the state are investigating reports of a post office scam.
According to the Garden City Police Department, citizens are receiving text and email notifications claiming to be from the United State's Postal Service stating they are having issues with the customer's delivery address and request your personal information to have your package(s) redelivered.
In these notifications, the customers are provided a link to verify their address and reschedule delivery.
Clicking on the link, however, will take you to a page where it asks for your personal information and request payment to have your package redelivered.
Other law enforcement agencies in Kansas have encountered this scam, and citizens have also received scam calls and letters appearing to be from the Postal Service.
The Post Office will not ask for this information. Police warn not to give out your personal or financial information. If you have questions or believe you have been a victim of fraud, contact police. If you have given out your financial information, contact your bank and/or credit card company immediately. You can also call your local post office directly to verify the status of your parcel(s).
