KANSAS CITY (AP) — A man was shot to death in a south Kansas City neighborhood, police there said.
The shooting happened along Cambridge Avenue around 5 p.m. Sunday, when several people in the area reported hearing gunfire during a disturbance on the street, police reported. Arriving officers found a man inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds who died at the scene. Police did not immediately release the victim’s name.
Investigators said an initial investigation showed that people in two vehicles exchanged gunfire, resulting in the man's death. Police had not announced any arrests or suspects by Monday morning.
The death marked the city’s 177th homicide this year, compared with 145 homicides by the same time last year, according to records kept by the Kansas City Star.
