
ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a toddler's hospitalization have made an arrest.
On February 13, police began an investigation that focused on a child younger than 2 years old who had suffered a medical emergency, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson.
Officers had responded to a home in the 900 block Santa Fe in Atchison shortly before 2a.m. that morning where the baby was found to be unresponsive.
Life saving measures were taken and the baby was transported to the hospital by EMS and subsequently to Children’s Mercy.
On Sunday, police arrested 34-year-old Sasha E. Gerard, of Atchison in the 100 block South 3rd Street on a District Court warrant for aggravated endangering a child. She is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
The child recovered after the hospitalization, according to Wilson. Police released no additional details.
