KHP ID's 2 Kan. men who died in gyrocopter crash

BUTLER COUNTY —

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a gyrocopter piloted Kerry E. Trent, 58, Wichita, was flying southbound into a field at 7800 NW Tawakoni Road in Butler County.

For unknown reasons it crashed in the field.

Trent and a passenger Tucker, Shannon W. Tucker, 53, Wichita, were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to the Sedgwick County Forensic Center.

POTWIN, Kan. (AP) — Authorities say two people have died after a type of aircraft called a gyrocopter crashed in south-central Kansas.

Butler County dispatchers say the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday just west of the Butler County town of Potwin. The names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
