SEDGWICK COUNTY—The Wichita Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Lincoln and Oliver.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:28 p.m. to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle, according to a media release. First responders located the motorcyclist, identified as 22-year-old Blaise Stewart of Wichita, lying on the ground.

Wichita Fire Department and Sedgwick County EMS performed life-saving measures, but Stewart was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates a green Kia Soul was traveling southbound on Oliver and turning east onto Lincoln when it collided with the northbound motorcycle in the intersection. The impact caused the Kia to flip onto its side.

The driver of the Kia, a 61-year-old Wichita woman, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The Wichita Police Department’s Accident Follow-Up Unit and Critical Accident Team responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
